May 1, 2017

The information evening will take place at Morningside Community Hall on May 1, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Guest speaker for the evening is Mr. Ryan Bell.  Born and raised in Ponoka, Ryan is a student at Lethbridge College.  There will be door prizes to be drawn and refreshments will be served after the presentation. Everyone welcome. Memberships are due at this time. It’s volunteers, memberships and donations that keep the area beautiful.

Guest Speaker

Mr. Ryan Bell

Our JJ Collett Natural Area Information Evening was held May 1 at 7:00 p.m. Guest speaker was Ryan Bell. He did a great job on Invasive Species locally, nationally and internationally. The evening ended with refreshments and socializing. We still have positions open for 3 directors. We have regular meetings on the 3rd Monday of the month with the exceptions of June, July, Aug. & Dec. We also have the Annual Info night in May. May also holds our Spring Walk and Sept. hosts a fall walk. June & Dec. are for board members and spouses, BBQ and Christmas party. We understand we can’t always make a board meeting, just let us know. We also do volunteer work at JJ Collett. If you can help with trail maintenance, clean up, building, repairs…….that’s a bonus for the area……only do what you can at JJ. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community of Ponoka, Morningside and Lacombe, be in the fresh air and get some exercise. Please contact us at contact@jjcollett.com or message us through Facebook. Thank you. We would really appreciate your time.

Congratulations to Darlene Heidt and Jim Miller.  Both won a nature book by Myrna Pearman.  Enjoy.

Thanks to Bob Ronnie Catering for donating a tray of goodies.

Just a friendly reminder to let you know the next monthly meeting will be held April 24, 2017. Please call for directions.  If anyone is interested in attending a board meeting, please contact us and we will gladly provide you with location information.  Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. sharp.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with grooming trails, winter is no exception.  If you have the desire to volunteer, send us an email and we will contact you as soon as possible.  Thanks for your interest.

A work crew will be at JJ Collett Natural Area during the spring/summer and fall to clear fallen trees and brush.  We will also have garbage clean up. We would welcome any help from our board members and members of JJ Collett Natural Area! Bring gloves, a rake, clippers, whatever you have to assist in the clean up. Your volunteer help is always appreciated and ensures a pleasant experience while visiting the area.  Work bees will be announced.  Thank you.
